Glanbrook Rangers show poise in Game 1 win over Simcoe Storm

The Glanbrook Rangers showed the Simcoe Storm what patience is all about Tuesday.

The top-seeded Rangers were meticulous and methodical, as they plotted their way to a 5-2 win over the Storm at Talbot Gardens to take Game 1 of the best-of-seven Niagara District Junior C Hockey League quarter-final.

Tied 2-2 after two periods, the Rangers' Cole Anderson took advantage on the powerplay to give his team its second and final lead of the game,  while Michael Fortino and Garnet Batrynchuk added goals for good measure.

In the first period, Batrynchuk and Cameron Toner exchanged goals, before Dakota Culbert and Nathan Fiorino did the same in the second period.

Despite the loss, Storm goalie Nathan McKinnon was the best player on the ice, turning aside 42 shots to keep his team in the game.

Games 2 and 3 of the series are in Glanbrook Wednesday and Sunday at 7:30 p.m., before the teams meet in Game 4 in simcoe on February 9 at 8 p.m.
